Floyd's
1921
Southern Comfort Food
The
roots of the North Carolina coast’s cuisine are planted firmly in
Southern tradition. No coastal restaurant better demonstrates this than Floyd’s
1921 where old favorites warmly welcome new guests every day. Comfort
foods such as Southern fried chicken, fried green tomatoes and Low County
meatloaf compliment coastal seafood selections such as High Cotton crab
cakes, fried oysters and succulent shrimp and grits. Even the restaurant
itself emanates old Southern charm, welcoming guests from the front porch
into one of downtown Morehead City’s distinctive historic homes.
Well-known chef Floyd
Olmstead and his wife Shana invite you to come on in and sample their
tempting blending of old Southern favorites paired with new Southern
creations. Ease into dinner with a drink paired with a selection from
Floyd’s 1921 Southern Tapas. Don’t be scared folks, it’s just a
really big appetizer. Sample from traditional treats such as the Fried
Green Tomato Stack, tasty fresh fried green tomatoes layered with
mozzarella cheese and served with grilled shrimp over baby greens, all
drizzled with basil oil. Other delights for your Southern appetite include
shrimp and tasso ham gravy served over skillet cornbread and country style
BBQ ribs, which goes great with a fine North Carolina brewed beer from
Floyd’s full service bar.
Entrees include the
rich taste of Chicken and Maple Grilled Sweet Potatoes. This selection is
layered with shaved ham, Swiss cheese and topped with a bourbon
lingonberry sauce. Seafood favorites include Fried Oyster and Andouille
Sausage Gumbo and Macadamia Nut Crusted Grouper. Don’t forget to save
room for dessert. Will it be Chocolate Bailey’s Irish Crème Cake,
Bourbon Pecan Pie or both? It’s a difficult decision for any sweet
tooth.
Floyd’s 1921, just

Morehead City, is open 11:30 – 2:30pm Monday for lunch and 11:30am –
