Best of Both Worlds:
Blue Gecko & Indigo Marsh
You’ll be feeling
the “blues” when you step in to either of these restaurants, but
in a good way. Whether it’s the cool blue of The Blue Gecko -
named after some of the island’s lizard-like inhabitants - with
its casual, dine-in or take-out offerings made from the finest
and freshest ingredients or the casually elegant, upscale
waterfront dining at Indigo Marsh - named after the deep indigo
blues of the water at dusk - both restaurants are renowned for
great food and great dining.
The Blue Gecko
opened in 2002 at 808 South Anderson Boulevard on Topsail Beach
and offers a combination of a deli/gallery/gift shop to its
visitors. Dining is provided on the first or third floor with
spectacular views of the sound and beautiful Topsail sunsets.
The décor is bright, fun and cheery with a third-floor bar and
all ABC permits. If you’re in the mood for an appetizer, the
Seafood Nachos are a favorite to locals and visitors alike. The
deli sandwiches are a huge hit right along with some of the best
burgers and (possibly the only) burritos on the island. The best
part is that you can take some of the flavor home with you by
purchasing prepared foods that just need reheating - the
crabcakes are a take-home favorite. This year, The Blue Gecko
will be introducing a Bistro Menu at dinner with recipes coming
from the chefs at Indigo Marsh and entrée prices ranging from
$16 to $22. To view current menu and hours, please visit
www.bluegecko-topsail.com or call 910-328-1022.
Indigo Marsh opened
in 2005 at 602B Roland Avenue in Surf City and keeps with the
blue theme by offering a waterfront porch (weather permitting)
along with pine-paneled walls, linen on the tables, and full
bar. The restaurant specializes in upscale, casual dining with
the freshest seafood available and Certified Angus Beef steaks
cooked to order. Executive Chef Luke Armitage and his staff are
trained by the best culinary schools in the country and are
passionate about providing excellent meals with stunning
presentations. Paige Bayshore, Front of the House Manager, is
equally dedicated to making sure that the menu is
well-complemented by an extensive list of handpicked wines and
the best possible service. In addition to dinner, Indigo Marsh
offers a spectacular Sunday Brunch Buffet with extended hours on
holidays such as Easter or Mother’s Day. Reservations are
recommended for dinner, current menu and hours are available at
www.indigomarsh.com or
by calling 910-328-2580.
