Clamdigger Restaurant: Fresh Local Seafood
& Homemade Dinners of the South

As the name suggests, the Clamdigger Restaurant, part of the Clam Digger Inn, reflects the coastal setting of its location at 511 Salter Path Road in Pine Knoll Shores. Family owned for more than 34 years, the restaurant name came about as the owners drove up and down the beach, trying to determine which names were already taken and looking to find a name of their own. Gaining inspiration from all things beach related, the Clamdigger came to them one day and seemed to be a perfect fit.

The restaurant offers many highlights, including its proximity to the ocean. The inn and restaurant are located directly on the oceanfront overlooking the Atlantic and beautiful beaches. Specializing in fresh seafood and homemade dinners of the South, the restaurant’s décor reflects the feel of rustic seafood restaurants that used to dominate the area. Frequented by locals for its generous portions and consistently good food, head chef Andy Beaujean has been instrumental in maintaining flavorful fare and bringing guests back for more during his 23 years with the restaurant.

Offering complete menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there are numerous selections and specials to choose from daily. When it comes to breakfast the Clamdigger is known for its outstanding variety of omelets to suit every taste, from the shrimp and Swiss omelet to the sausage and mozzarella omelet. The breakfast menu boasts homemade French toast made from loaf bread baked on site. Four huge pieces of the sliced homemade bread are served up hot and delicious, then lightly dusted with powder sugar.

Lunch favorites include juicy made-to-order burgers such as the hearty bacon cheeseburger. The restaurant prides itself on fixing the burgers the way their customers prefer for the ultimate in satisfaction. Another lunch favorite is the hand-cut roast beef sandwich tucked under a layer of melted Swiss cheese. The onion roll that it is served on adds the perfect amount of extra flavor.

The dinner selection offers just as much variety to please every guest in the house. The popular Monday night oyster special delivers fried, tender oysters for a reasonable price. Seafood lovers can also find classic seafood favorites and combinations in both regular and small-plate portions prepared from fresh local catches. For those who like beef, the Clamdigger’s selection of steaks is included in the list of favorites. Other specials give reason to come out every night of the week. And don’t forget the Clamdigger’s selection of desserts made from family recipes as the perfect end to any meal.

The Clamdigger’s hours are 6:30am until 9pm. The restaurant has all ABC permits and the Cutty Sark Lounge offers daily drink specials.
